Print Elective

So much imagination with this one, almost like a caricature

I LOVE OWLS!

He looks almost painted

Love the negative Vs Positive

This looks like a microscope image of a tapeworm! I love it!

Reminds me a bit of Pop Art

Almost like a Textile piece.

Amazing how its looks so detailed and simple at the same time!

I love the incredible detail in this!

Looks like a stitch drawing!

I love the smudgy charcoal effects with this piece.

Sense My Space- 3rd 3D piece

As one of the reasons why I adore the swing is the sensation of flight I decided to make a piece based on it. I had discovered a friend goes hunting and asked him wether he would have any feathers/wings to represent the sensation of flight that I experience while on the swing. He produced two wings and various tail feathers, so I mounted them on a strechted canvas.

Sense My Space: 2nd 3D piece

I found a frame and decided to turn it into another swing. I added a base so as to keep it steady and standing up and stained it. I made the swing seat from wood and added hooks for the wire on both the seat and the top of the frame. At first i was going to hang the seat by fishing gut/wire but I had a some chains from jewlllery making and decided to use these as the actual swing has chains also.

Swing Close ups

I attatched a pen to the string on the swing and started to swing it back and forth so as it would make a mark. This turned out well.

Sense My Space- Park Swing

Pictures taken in a playground. I attatched my camera to one of the child swings to see if it could be blurred. The camera did this to some extent but in the end I had to switch to my iPod camera as it blurred more naturally.

Sense My Space- 3D Swing

A replica of the swing I have made from wood. I plan to hang different pencils, graphite sticks etc and then use the swinging motion to create a mark.

Painting Elective

On the first day of the Painting Elective we researched new artists using magazines and books and talked about what we like and hated and why. We were giving certain colours and had to bring in objects the same colour. Then we began making 'constructions' or instillation's using everybodys objects (plus any other object in the room like tables) and discussed why they worked and how, for example, complimenting/clashing colours, lines and angles and changing the 'plains'.

One of the last construcions to be made in the room.

We had to move around the room and around the construstions/instilations and record parts using small thumbnail drawings and paint. To start we had to use only one tone created from the three primarys (brown) and use a credit card to record the toppled tables. Then we moved onto using three tones, a light, middle and dark tone again made from the three primary colours and used pallete knives. Ater recording and painting several pictures, we moved onto using secondary and complimentary colours and then eventually onto full colour.
